Queen Palm    (Syagrus romanzoffiana) or (Cocos plumosa)

Brazil & Argentina

Queen palms are the most common ‘tropical’ palms seen throughout the Phoenix area.  With correct watering and feeding, they will transplant easily and grow quickly, providing fast shade and screening.

Queen palms do not develop any fungus problems, however, lack of manganese may cause 'frizzle top' which can result in new growth being stunted and blackened.  Avoid this by using granular food or palm tree spikes 3 to 4 times per year, and by keeping the soil Ph low.

Recommended watering is 2 to 3 times a week in summer, especially newly transplanted palms, and 2 times a week during winter weather.

Great palm for fast growth for shade and quick screening.

Excellent as a tall tropical accent for poolside or entryways.

Growth is moderate to fast, will reach about 25 feet in 15 to 20 years.
